#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

Vanessa’s Consult July 30, 2018.

Vanessa’s Consult July 30, 2018.

Vanessa met us running in the New York City Marathon 2017, in pain. Ambassador Philippa paced her to us for help. Now, that’s classic!

How did Vanessa find #RunPainFree:

Vanessa was running the New York City Marathon 2017, and like so many, she was in pain almost immediately. Early in the race Philippa, a #RunPainFree runner at the time (later named Ambassador), saw her fellow Harlem Run crew member (Vanessa) and immediately took her under her wing to get her running, as our Ambassadors naturally do their fellow running peers.. By mile 17, approaching the Bronx leg of the NYCM, Philippa spotted Jessica and brought Vanessa over. As the now infamous video shows, Philippa dancing “I’m fine because I’m already a #RunPainFree client!”, as Vanessa is bent over getting rolled by Jessica to get her to the finish line, is how Vanessa “found” #RunPainFree.

Vanessa is also a Harlem Run member, a great running community movement here in New York City! Several of our #RunPainFree Ambassadors and runners are ether apart of or frequent Harlem Run team runs and Vanessa had seen many of them go from injury to educated runners,…she learned why they had their transformation real-time on the NYCM 2017 course! As Jessica yelled, “I will see you this week!”

What pain was Vanessa experiencing?

July 22, 2018 was our Brooklyn QnA and Correction workout event, Vanessa attended it. After the marathon, this was the 2nd time meeting… yes, she took 8 months to see us again. That event led to her consult on July 30, 2018. Her consult revealed she was in fact, severely injured. Coach Jessica has a severe list, and not only was she on it immediately, she was named “most severe for 2018” on the spot. Here is her list of initial injuries she came for and Jessica found: Foot pain, Calf Pain, QL (spine/back) pain, Low back pain, Hip Pain, Quad lock up, Sartorious, IT band , Hip joint dysfunction, Glute activation, Sacrum dysfunction, Dysfunctionally built muscle, Mechanically unsound, Joint restriction on all IT insertions.

Coach Jessica deemed her “Biomechanically Unsound” Day one. The most severe of injuries because it’s crossing right to left body wise and none of the joints are working together at all. Biomechanics is how your body operations, mechanically. Vanessa, as a natural talent to run, her body was made for it, following in her father and uncles footsteps who ran mountains in Bolivia. But when you have a natural athletic ability, you tend to NOT condition it, and just run off of genetics. This is how most “more athletic” or “faster” runners get so severely injured. Their body’s can go longer than most, but once they hit that wall where genetics is ran out, it stops them from running period. In Vanessa’s case, she has amazing friends that guided her to #RunPainFree and Coach Jessica so this wouldn’t be where her story ended. (Check out our podcast for more in-depth conversations on Biocmechancs. The #RunPainFree Podcast on Itunes.)

Below, is Vanessa’s first correction run on her consult, to assess her movement pattern and map her correction program as she started her NYCM 2018 training. She was determined to NOT have a repeat of 2017 (pictured above), and starting her correction during the start of the marathon training season is EXACTLY what every runner should do. You correct AS you train, so you are conditioned for the Marathon.

It was time to take her from TOE STRIKING to HEEL - FULL FOOT FUNCTION!!!!!!

IMG_3261.jpeg

Vanessa’s work, was of the hardest of the roster for 2018. Coming for a back strain to QL (lower quadrant of the back aka Flank) showed her movement pattern was dysfunctional from her hips to her shoulders and T-Spine, and then her Hips down to her ankles. Then entire X of her body was in complete dysfunction. None of her joints were working properly, and therefore all the insertions of her muscles and tendons were pulling on all joints disallowing function, biomechanics signals, and insufficient blood flow to the joints results in tears and breaks…so it was painful to do anything. But she caught it just in time. Had she waited, and trained again for the NYCM 2018 like that, the tears and breaks would have occurred.

Just taking the step to address this is a task. Surrounded by her #RunPainFree Family, she busted her butt in days of frustration and fatigue, endless googling (that Coach Jessica banned her from) to get to the bottom of her body’s seemingly revolt. When one thing started working, another part of the body would make itself known that it too needed some love. This is what happens in all cases, we call it “ping-ponging”, but when your injury itself is Biomechanics, its happening at a much deeper level involved the spine, hip joint, and sacrum. How the body is connected top to bottom and operates right to left. In laymen terms, it’s no joke and nothing you want to ever feel or go through.

She did. And she did it with grace and fortitude! She was set to run the NYC Marathon 2018 in the middle of her correction, not even corrected fully and was ready for it!

How did vanessa start to share #RunPainFree with others?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners.

Vanessa is very involved in her running community. Both her run crew, Harlem Run, and her borough The Bronx. She was also very injured, so people started seeing her improvements weekly, even with set-backs each week she came back better than the week prior. Runners take notice when one of their own shows tenacity and resilience, and actual results. The #RunPainFree program sets you apart from being someone who runs, to someone who becomes an athlete.

The running movement happening here in New York City is real, and every borough is growing their running participants and crews. Vanessa runs with so many people and immediately started sharing what she was learning in every session with her peers. This also came with her coming to all our 2018 events for Marathon Training and inviting anyone she knew that was hurting to come. Any person she saw limping, or heard talking about pain, she’d tell them about #RunPainFree and then text Coach Jessica. Even though she was still deep in correction, she understood early its a process and respected that. Coming from a family of runners, it’s in her blood to run… she therefore started off with respect for her body and giving it what it needs to not only get better, but become conditioning to the level of activity she wants for life. That, is what she started sharing with her peers. Especially the toe strikers.

Coach Jessica is told about this more often than not, that “Vanessa” told me to do XYZ, and then to see you!” Her generosity in wanting to help other runners get out of their own way, and into a pain free run, comes across in every interaction she has in an attempt to offer advice.

REDempTION DAY…NYC MARATHON 2018!

The big day came! NYC MARATHON and she embraced this moment! As she stepped up to the start line, she took in all her work and new education on her own body and what capabilities it had, and her new found potential… since she just unleashed her athlete within! She as tagged her posts “#warrior”, and she now had full understanding of how much of a warrior she was.

She ran right by the #RunPainFree family and coach Jessica spot at mile 22, that neither her or them saw her! GREAT difference from just one year prior, and still not even fully corrected. That is the power of the #RunPainFree athletic injury correction and conditioning program, when you do the work, stay the course snd trust the process! Coach Jessica has STRICT rules, to NOT stop unless you need her. So, if she doesn’t see you, it’s a good thing!

Well… This text message to coach and post explained just why Vanessa breezed by them at mile 22!

Post NYCM conditioning continues!

Vanessa started 2019 as a Tag Team with Ambassador Philippa! Taking on their 2019 goals together as a team! The very person that brought her up to Coach Jessica in the 2017 NYCM, was now her partner in achieving NEW and even more Challenging goals!

What is vanessa doing currently?

WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE SHE WAS ONE OF THE CHOSEN NYC RUNNERS TO JOINING NIKE MOONSHOT PROJECT FOR 2019! She is doing that long side her #RunPainFree Correction and Conditioning!

Vanessa ran her fastest 10K ever in the Queens 10K 2019. A notoriously HOT and TOUGH race, she crushed it and crossed the finish line in amazement on how her body is continuously progressing still! She is headed for Chicago and NYC Marathon’s 2019, and now that her body is working biomechanically, taking her from toe striking to full foot function is a transition, in conditioning. She conditioned that biomechanics dysfunction for so many years, we had to address the joint’s functions in order to get to the muscle function.. and that is what we are doing currently. She is in it to win it, and this girl is WINNING!

Correction is up and down. All #RunPainFree gazelles, including Coach Jessica, know this.

In the Brooklyn Half 2019, Vanessa finished in tears due to pain. As always, they got right to work. Due to her mechanics becoming sound, it now allowed the muscles to work that had not been. But she was wearing Nike Zoom Fly, a highly sought after shoe. However, anyone with hip or calf pain/injury really should not be in them. The disallows your foot from grabbing the ground and pushing off, as they naturally slant downward creating the calf to fire the whole time, setting the calf up to be rock and unable to extend, therefore disallowing push off. When the body wants to work, as hers was, and the sneaker locks it up, the body screams. That is how you know correction is working. A corrected runner is a preventative runner. Her body was telling her that something was off. In this case the shoe was not for her, but she would fight Coach Jessica for another month before she finally took them off. It was about 2 weeks later she ran her fastest 10K at the Queens 10K. Feeling is believing, and the body never lies.

She is currently kicking butt in Correction Conditioning, Marathon Training and at Nike Moonshot Project! She is getting ready for Chicago Marathon 2019 - Her first traveling marathon, and NYC Marathon 2019!

Running into 2019 and Beyond like…

From the moment Vanessa started with #RunPainFree, she has shared her challenged experience as a runner, who went from not needing anything to run, to needed everything to run. Every step she’s been learning how deep the dysfunction was to how much conditioning she did improperly, resulting in knowledge and education on her body she never had. This all unleashed the athlete she is today and is conditioning to not only sustain, but surpass! She has completely changed her biomechanics, by learning her biomechanics. Vanessa’s correction has been so deep, that over a year later she still gaining a new body from it, running differently, and learning more and more every step of the way. Just recently, she came and found Coach Jessica fixing people in central park, after talking to a peer in pain, when back to get the fellow runner and hand delivered him to Jessica to get help…and stayed with them the whole time for support.

She has gone through so much that she thrives in supporting her peers get to a pain free run, and excelling in goals. She had so many limiting beliefs for what her body needs, she can relate to the most stubborn runners, and that alone has been a huge way that she’s been able to help so many get to a better place physically, emotionally and mentally..

A #RunPainFree Runner is someone who naturally wants to help others get to the root of their restrictions in running their best races, times and as many Marathons as they want, and Vanessa represents that as a leader in the running community as well as for #RunPainFree!

Vanessa has been awesome in sharing information, coming too and bring so many runners to our #RunPainFree Events to share the knowledge with as many people as she can. For she knows first-hand what learning her own body has allowed her to have an entire new outlook the actual athlete she is,…and that genetics is nice, but not enough. She actually has ACCOMPLISHED what she set out to do. Her social media has bee a VLOG of complete honesty and helped countless runners, to show everyone running pain free IS a real thing, and Vanessa has done this of no influence other than her own experience, fortitude and character, and it is for that reason we are happy to announce her as our twelfth and final #RunPainFree Ambassador!

Congratulations Vanessa, on representing our brand with commitment, motivation, dedication, and pride! You are a #RunPainFree Ambassador

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

August 27, 2017 Nancy came to our annual #RunPainFree Correction Conditioning workout, after not running for weeks…and she ran!

How did Nancy find #RunPainFree?

Nancy’s First Session September 20, 2017

Nancy’s First Session September 20, 2017

Each year we put on our Annual Correction Workshop and Workout for marathoners. Specifically at the end of the summer, when everyone’s pains and injuries are at the high points. We are able to help so many runners doing this, and Nancy, thankfully, was one of them. She didn’t think she could get to me in NYC due to living out on long island. But, she soon found that was a non-factor and with 8 weeks out to the NYC Marathon 2017, we got to work.

What pain was Nancy experiencing?

#RunPainFree Annual Correction Workshop and Workout 8/27/2017

#RunPainFree Annual Correction Workshop and Workout 8/27/2017

Doctor’s said that they thought she had shin splints, but she never really bought into it. At the workshop, Jessica saw her sneakers were wrong, restrictive, and costing her a tons of issues at her hip, that was looping a pattern of dysfunction all over her body and causing pain. She had actually iced her shins so much that she freezer burned them! She has the scars to prove it. Nancy’s knots are now what Jessica deems, “Nancy knots”. She has the most rock formed -in-shape, knots, that Jessica has ever seen. She was in stability sneakers, AND orthotics. And if you know #runpainfree, you know these are 2 of the WORST things a runner can do to themselves. Her pain was in her shins, but her problems was her hips, foot use, foot function, and IT Band restriction of the entire pattern that sets off push off.

IMG_1628.jpeg
IMG_2499.jpeg
IMG_3232.jpeg

First things first, with 8 weeks out (and this is common for #runpainfree approaching NYCM), we had to get her out of those stability sneakers, and into full foot function sneakers, so we can get her HIP working. She was a 14 min mile WALKER at the time. After assessing her body, Jessica said her pace was a 10:30 min mile RUN. Nancy, didnt believe her, at all! But Nancy had no clue the body potential she had, as most runners don’t, and presumably hesitated to test it. So, Jessica made her. And Nancy ran straight through, only stopping when she needed to, instead of planned, and was amazed at her abilities.

How did Nancy start to share #RunPainFree with others?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners.

Nancy, not only shared her experience with her peers, she created an entire Facebook Page for injured runners! A safe-haven for runners that were down and out and needed a place of people she can relate to. She started sharing all her lessons with the #RunPainFree program. In one years time, she has over 400 members in this group. SO many people thank her, saying the group saved them mentally, and emotionally! There is nothing like an injury, sidelining you or making you feel pain day in and day out, all while you watch your friends posting about their great runs all over social media…and Nancy know’s this. She has created a place where all runners can come for support 24/7! They have green bows, and even men wear these bows, so they can identify one another on race courses. She’s walked many races with injured runners, so they could still do it and not feel alone. Her compassion is unmatched!

Manhattan Half 2018!

Manhattan Half 2018!

What are some of Nancy’s accomplishments?

Since starting the #RunPainFree program 8 weeks before NYCM2017, she ran and completed New York City Marathon 2017, a week later flew to Las Vegas and did the Vegas Night Half Marathon. A month later she did the infamous DOPEY CHALLENGE at RUN DISNEY consisting of 5k, 10K, Half and Full Marathon, one day after another! January 21, 2018 (pic right, GREEN BOW to help her team!) she completed the Manhattan Half Marathon. 2 months later in March, she completed the NYC Manhattan half and then ONE month after that she set out to run another world major, LONDON Marathon 2018 in April! She ran tons of 5k’s, 10K’s, the Bronx 10 miler, and then set out to yet ANOTHER WORLD MAJOR, Berlin Marathon 2018….finishing 2018 strong with a 4th Marathon for 2018 AND 3 Majors, with NYC 2018 Marathon! This was one she chose to walk with all injured runners from her group, so they felt supported! It’s nothing shy of amazing what Nancy does for others, and we are so proud that she is a #RunPainFree #Runner!

How has Nancy’s Pace Improved?

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Nancy is an example of this!

Starting with #RunPainFree, 1 years time, Nancy was walking a 14 min mile. She now runs straight, ONLY taking breaks as needed, ranging from 1030-1130 min miles depending on course and a 12-13:30 min mile for marathon… and progressing.

What is nancy doing, currently?

Berlin Marathon 2018

Berlin Marathon 2018

Nancy is currently, embracing her 50th Year!! Supporting her team of injured runners, as she does constantly! And still correcting her feet! In Berlin, she had a set back in some ankle pain, and after Jessica’s assessment and the image from the sports doctor, it was confirmed a small tear in her Anterior Tibialis. The Anterior Tibialis is a Muscle that turns into a tendon. It’s along the outer shin that gets a TON of use for runners, and it comes down to the front of the ankle (ankle flexion) turning into the tendon (tendons attach muscle to bone).

This is super common for someone that has the feet issues Nancy has, Pronating (weak feet/never used feet thanks to orthotics, running in orthotics, never addressed pronation from her hips which set’s off her entire kinetic chain feet to shoulders. It’s common for a client’s foot to go through some of these and bone adjusting until corrected. In the old days, doctors would break the foot and cast them to force the foot to be in better position. Today we do that through movement, and it’s naturally happening, unlike forced, so you retrain the mechanic as the bone heals, training the whole body who to operate again from scratch, as it adjusts.

Pronation chain affect
Ankle_Pronation_Position-56a9da465f9b58b7d0ff8ced.png

The feet are indicators of your hip, if you force the foot to be in any position, you are also then forcing the hips, and therefore the back as well. That will cause SERIOUS back and hip pain. This is why CORRECTION is so important. We fix everything as we go, so that everything is working as it should, any dysfunction is addressed real time, not forced.

Nancy, is an exceptional woman, and athlete. She lives a life of helping others, putting others before her, but still takes care of herself! Where in most cases, people forget about their goals and dreams, Nancy truly leads by example of being a good human, and still taking care of her own needs. From the first session, she began sharing her correction work with her peers and her facebook group, encouraging them to know better, be educated in their body and to know that pain is not the end all… and then she shows and leads them in all she does and never gives up! Nancy has shown great respect to the #RunPainFree program, an asset to our team is an understatement! Nancy has done this of no influence other than her own, and it is for that reason we are happy to announce her as a #RunPainFree Ambassador!

Congratulations NANCY, on representing our brand with commitment, motivation, dedication, and pride! You are a #RunPainFree Ambassador

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

Philippa’s Consult February 10, 2017.

Philippa’s Consult February 10, 2017.

Philippa came for a consult on February 10, 2017, but didn’t start her #runpainfree correction program until July 8, 2017. She came with a plan and NEW goals

How did Philippa ind #RunPainFree:

Philippa is apart of Harlem Run, in New York City! Several of our #RunPainFree Ambassadors and runners frequent their team runs and Philippa heard about one of our famous NYC workshops, and she came to see what the program was about! Months later she had come for her consult February 10, 2017. Before she started the program she had taken on a 50 miler without any training and a hiking trip in Costa Rica. She completed 37 of the 50 miles, came back to redeem herself and get her body where it needed to be, to finish the NYC Marathon 2017.

Here is Philippa running into the #RunPainFree team as she ran the Brooklyn Half 2017…pre correction program.

What pain was Philippa experiencing?

July 8, 2017, Philippa came in with calf pain, but we found a plethora of injuries and restrictions around her body, rooting her calf pain. Her Calf was actually the red flag for all the other stuff happening up in her hips. Her entire IT band movement pattern had her in complete restriction, crossing left to right, joint to joint, not only preventing her from conditioning but creating dysfunctional muscles. We immediately set out on a 6 month plan that takes her through the NYC Marathon 2017. And to work we went!

She had all the borough races to get through, and the big NYCM to finish strong! All of which happened during her correction. It’s imperative the athletes stay active during correction so we can get the proper feedback, in following the mechanics. We have basic human mechanics, then the person has their own, as well as each sport. #RunPainFree blends all that together, so we can correct and condition at the same time. Philippa’s body adjusted well to correction, weekly. Her consistency in her programming, runs and races made all the difference.

Philippa’s will tell you that Jessica said she refused to work with Philippa until she changed her Brooks sneakers, she recalls this fondly ;)! But, that was due to stability shoes locking up her foot, causing the pain she was feeling, but ALSO causing the pain she wasn’t feeling in her hip. Her sacrum was off, we had to get her body released to adjust in order to re-train and conditioned, to gain true correction. We started slow and progressed her as her body NATURALLY adjusted.

IMG_2775.jpg

Together, Jessica and Philippa worked on the running plan she wanted to follow, and Jessica made it work for her and her correction and conditioning. This was the start of a much bigger goal Philippa had in mind, for 2019!

Consistency and dedication resulted in the consistency of progression and Philippa felt stronger than ever! She never had believed she could run without pain, and actually started to succumb to that idea before she met Jessica. Once she felt her body work for her, she was limitless in her personal athletic endeavors. The more her confidence about her body’s abilities grew, she headed for the NYC Marathon starting to plan new goals in health and wellness as more than a hobby in the year to come. Her love for adventure and travel, mixed with her new found love of running was setting her sights much bigger than even she imagined. She decided that 2018 would be the triple major challenge of Berlin. Chicago and NYC Marathons! Three Major’s in 6 weeks! NYCM 20178 was just her beginning!

How did Philippa start to share #RunPainFree with others?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners.

“It was logical! Everything Jessica was saying just made sense. And when I applied it, it worked. That’s when I signed up.” Philippa has been heard saying that many times! Jessica makes sure her clients are educated on what is happening in their body, and what she is doing so they can address it themselves in the future. The #RunPainFree Program is to CORRECT you, so being able to know what your body is saying is essential. Immediately, Philippa started sharing her information with her teammates who had similar to her pains and limits. Sharing sessions with other runners gave her even more information on other injuries, and she has really been a helping hand to the running community!

The big day came! NYC MARATHON and she embraced this moment in a honorable way. A way of honoring her body, doing what she didn’t think was possible, feeling amazing, and embarking on a whole new set of life goals!

What are some of Philippa’s accomplishments?

She completed 7 NYC races, NYC half, Fred Lebow Half, Queens, Brooklyn Half, Bronx 10 miler, Staten Island Half, and…

NEW YORK CITY MARATHON FINISHER 2018!

She embraced the entire experience soup to nuts, took her time, took in the scenes and the energy! When we saw her on the course, she came up smiling, glowing with pride for what she and her body were accomplishing!

Surprisingly, she ran up to us with hurt friend. She found a fellow Harlem Run Teammate, Vanessa, who was in a lot of pain and struggling early on, and instead of running her own race and all she trained for, she stayed with Vanessa and brought her to us at mile 19 for help. INCREDIBLE! Her very first marathon,… and this was the action she took! A #RunPainFree leader was born on that course! This is exactly why we love working with runners, it is the a selfish sport, its you against you… but runners are self-less, always looking to help their fellow runner to the finish line! WAY TO GO, P!

What is Philippa doing currently?

Philippa’s NEW goals were set in 2017, so upon completion of the NYC Marathon 2017, she rested and got to work in January 2018! NYC 5 BOROUGH BIKE TOUR, TRIPLE MAJOR CHALLENGE BERLIN, CHICAGO AND NYC, MOUNTAIN RACING WITH UNDER ARMOR and HIKING GUIDE! We had not only, sport specific conditioning, but we had JOB specific conditioning to work into it all. And all this, was training for her BIG race, 2019 50 miler redemption! BACK TO WORK WE WENT!

As we approached her first mountain race in Vermont, Philippa fell off her mountain bike the first day of a weekend hiking & camping trip. Her leg was stuck, so as she fell her legs were a bit pretzeled. This resulted in landing awkwardly, and had her laying in her tent the entire rest of the camping weekend. She didn’t have service to reach out to Jessica either. She bruised the outer calf bone where the IT band inserts, her hip was shifted from the landing as well. This set off an entire body reaction, JUST as the races of the season began.

On her first session back after the fall, she was crying in pain as Jessica released a lot of joint tension and restriction, to get blood flow to all the places affected so we can get the muscles moving again. Like a CHAMP, she took the pain, her contacts popped out.. but she got through it. She was NOT broken, on Jessica’s watch. Philippa had goals and Jessica was seeing her to them all!

Together, they looked at the schedule and had adjustments that Philippa could make on the fly based on how she felt, we new the goal was the triple challenge and her 2019, so that was always the focus. However, it was important Philippa completed all her races this year. And She did! Even if she had to do a less milage race, at the race, she could. And She did.

The 2018 Training season, Philippa Tag-Teamed with Leslie, a fellow Harlem Run runner who needed correction. Together they worked towards their goals, the support has been a seamless understanding between them and has been a great help to Philippa’s major goals this year. Lesli was there to uplift her both directly and indirectly!

Onward she pushed to complete all her races for 2018, and we are happy and proud to announce she has done just that! Philippa is officially a BERLIN AND CHICAGO MARATHON’S FINISHER 2018, and is about to close out the year of 2018 with her 3 of 3 Major Marathon’s in 6 week challenge… 20 DAYS TO GO, NEW YORK CITY MARATHON 2018 HERE SHE COMES!

From the moment Philippa started with #RunPainFree, she has shared her experience as a beginner runner, learning about her body and becoming an athlete. She has been supportive in helping her peers get to a pain free run, and excelling in goals, knowing she was once in their shoes. Her education of her body has surpassed even her imagination, and she’s used that to be sympathetic but also, to give tough love to peers to help anyone get out of pain. A #RunPainFree Runner is someone who naturally wants to help others get to the root of their restrictions in running their best races, times and as many Marathons as they want, and Philippa represents that as a leader in the community as well as for #RunPainFree!

Philippa has been awesome in sharing information, going LIVE at our #RunPainFree Events to share the knowledge with as many people as she can. For she knows first-hand what learning her own body has allowed her to have an entire new outlook on what her body can do, and she actually has ACCOMPLISHED what she set out to do. Attending #RunPainFree Events, and sharing her progress on social media, to show everyone running pain free IS a real thing, and Philippa has done this of no influence other than her own experience, and it is for that reason we are happy to announce her as a #RunPainFree Ambassador!

Congratulations Philippa, on representing our brand with commitment, motivation, dedication, and pride! You are a #RunPainFree Ambassador

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

Jimmy's first session March 9, 2017

Jimmy's first session March 9, 2017

March 9, 2016, Jimmy had his consult to address his painful calves, after being told to see Jessica by his peers!

How did jimmy find #RunPainFree:

Jimmy is a member of the infamous, PPTC (Prospect Park Track Club) in Brooklyn, NY. Many of his teammates were either clients of #RunPainFree or had a consult, and had been telling him for months to get to see Jessica. But, like most runners, he waited too long. The injury that had been persistent, screamed at him.. so he messaged Jessica.

What pain was Jimmy experiencing?

Calves. Jimmy had been running with both calf sleeves, and Knee braces. His calfs were in pain all the time. Little did he know he was making it worse by restricting even more. In doing so he built his calves in such dysfunction that is was nearly 2 inches larger than the other calf. That imbalance alone is enough to cause a major hip injury, which leads me to the root of his issues. His IT Band was the cause of the calf pain, due to restriction in joint mobility, his calf's flexion and extension was restricted. So, being a fast runner, his muscles developed in that dysfunction.. and therefore were rock hard. As Jessica released his restriction of the IT Band, she had to break down the dysfunctional muscle, then retrain it the right way, and then build THOSE muscles. Jimmy, the perfect student, go into his correction homework right away!

Jimmy, the 1st to break the stick!

Jimmy, the 1st to break the stick!

Jimmy's calves' dysfunctional muscle development was the the result OF his dysfunction and injury. And so, while rolling at the IT Band Insertion, Jessica broke her infamous stick in TWO! It was a big day in #RunPainFree history, and now all the runners want to be the next to break the stick!

Early on in his correction, about a month, Jimmy did the ZION half in Utah, got on a plane and went to Hawaii for the Honolulu half marathon, a week apart. He had no foam roller, and didn't do all his homework. HE did amazing on the races, but when he came back to his first session, post races, and began a new phase in his correctioni, his calf nearly snapped mid movement in the workout. The sound was like a rubber band snapped, literally. Immediately Jessica didn't let hm stop moving. This is ESSENTIAL in timing for a calf strain to NOT get worse or stop you. It's addressing it immediately on the spot. Jessica made him walk around the park, as half his body weight was on her, so he could. She had him sit and do some flexion and extension, and in seconds he was able to put more weight on his foot. They kept at it until her next session showed up. By this time, he was able to put the weight on to his foot, and walk alone. Jessica had him walk to the bathroom and back to her alone before she let him go home. She gave him the regimen for calf strain for the night and the next few days. In 2 weeks he ran a half. The above video was his run PRE race.. no calf strain holding his one back! THIS Is the power of #runpainfree #runners doing their HOMEWORK!

How did Jimmy start to share #RunPainFree with others?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners.

Jimmy was sharing his work IMMEDIATELY and TONS of PPTC teammates were coming to get help from #RunPainFree and Jessica. He was exemplifying what the #RunPainFree program can do, and was already rolling his peers, and giving advice. He wanted everyone he knew in pain to come see Jessica. Many say this, but very few go as hard as Jimmy has and still does to this very day. He is hands down, of the most supportive and committed runners of #RunPainFree!

What are some of Jimmy's accomplishments?

Jimmy placed 1st in his age group several times in the 2017 running season, for starters! He gave himself a challenge to do 3 marathons in 6 weeks in 2017. Not only did he run hundreds of miles in 2017, but he completed his 3 for 3 Challenge; BERLIN in September 24th, he ran CHICAGO October 8th and Finished with NEW YORK CITY November 5th and PR'd his 3rd of the three! He was amazing!

How has Jimmy's Pace Improved?

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Jimmy is an example of this!

Starting with #RunPainFree his NYC marathon 2016 time was 11:26 per mile. He finished NYC 2017 in 9:20.

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

Yvette's 1st session, August 31, 2016

Yvette's 1st session, August 31, 2016

Summers end 2016, Inerternational marathoner, "The Captain", came for a consult regarding her cramping legs holding her back...it was restriction from dysfunction all the while.

How did Yvette find #RunPainFree:

Yvette is the founder and Captain of #JustKeepRunning, Inc. A Facebook group for runners to post about running and supporting runners. That's it! Yvette has a strict no nonsence policy and that is why its the best FB Runners group out!

Jessica is in many running groups, as a runner but she serves as an injury expert to help as many runners as she can, requiring nothing in return. Yvette approved Jessica for #JustKeepRunning to be one of them. However, when Yvette was experiencing her own pain, It was Ana, #RunPainFree Flagship Ambassador, who was also in the group that talked about her program with us, and seeing Jessica's responses to her runners, that she came for her consult.

What pain was Yvette experiencing?

Yvette was having bad cramping in her legs, quads specifically, on her long runs. Being the type of runner who only races Half's and Full Marathons (maybe a 10 miler in there), a "long run" is all of her running. She felt it was holding her back, and that it was but it wasn't the cramping. Her entire IT Band's movement pattern was restricting her ability to run to her body's potential. Her T-spine was locked up completely, not allowing for any torque (a runners power source) to even begin to get her legs to open up and use her mechanics to activate (glute and hips = push off), and then she was cramping from the lactic acid build up that wasn't dumping due to poor muscle action. So the "cramping" was really restriction from the IT band, creating hip dysfunction, and therefore not allowing for muscle movement/activation.. so it could never fulling flex or extend, which has to happen for lactic acid to build up as well as flush or "dump" properly.

IMG_3981.JPG
IMG_0109.JPG
We FaceTime when she cannot get into the city.

We FaceTime when she cannot get into the city.

The more we corrected, the more we found.. its apart of the correction process. and Yvette kept on her homework regardless of anything life tossed her. She has a very high profile job, so at times Jessica would go to her job to train her. And because she does not live in New York City so she commuted to see Jessica, but when she couldn't make it into NYC, she'd facetime to get the session in (like our online sessions). It's tenacity like this that makes #RunPainFree what it is today

In addition to her own life, she operates and manages #justkeeprunning, and online FB running group, designed to motivate, support and uplift runners. In her "spare" time of being a mom of 3 girls, and one hell of a athletic mom, she makes sure all the runners in her group get the same support, just be help other runners stay uplifted whether they are running in a group or alone.

IMG_6215.jpg

Yvette travels all over the county and international to run half and full marathons! She has runners in pretty much every state so there is always a group to run a race with. And, everyone loves running with her because she's simply, inspirational!

How did Yvette start to share #RunPainFree with others?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners.

Once Yvette saw and felt her body change, from the #RunPainFree program, she shared her work with anyone she heard was in pain. Sharing what she has learned to referring the to Jessica, just to help her peers. When Yvette knows someone struggling in pain and can't run, she truly invests herself in helping them get running again. A quality that transcends the running community.

What are some of Yvette's accomplishments?

Post NYC Marathon 2016

Post NYC Marathon 2016

Yvette has ran all over the globe but in 2016, she did 3 planned marathons, with no injuries (pictured right), and from that smile you can see her pride in accomplishing the triple marathon challenge! Atlantic City, Chicago and NYC of 2016!

Completed Marathons:

How has Yvette's Pace Improved?

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Yvette is an example of this!

Starting with us, Yvette was running inefficiently, with having to use too much effort.. due to all her restrictions. Unable to improve her time due to muscle dysfunction. We had to get her cramping stopped from the lactic acid build up, from improper muscle function, to allow for her muscles to actually build in oder to support her joint mobility and function IN ORDER to build muscle.. and that we did! Ever case is different, even when rooted in the same spot.

Yvette is a leader by example. She uplifts everyone she comes across, and pulls out the best in everyone! Her own fortitude is contagious and her will for being at her best, makes you do the same. Yvette has supported #runpainfree since her first session, has referred many runners to #RunPainFree events, and Jessica. #RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

Kelly's 1st official session, June 14, 2017

Kelly's 1st official session, June 14, 2017

Kelly was an honorary #RunPainFree Client, until shoulder pain made her a #RunPainFree Triathlete/Runner!

How did Kelly find #RunPainFree:

Kelly heard about Jessica from Flagship Ambassador, Ana. Ana also told Jessica about Kelly. Kelly started coming to Jessica's #RunPanFree events in 2016. Her coming to every event in 2017 made her well versed for a non-client. Jessica named her an honorary client early 2017 just from her support.

What pain was Kelly experiencing?

20106760_10154562866336962_8581560641025627787_n.jpg

Calf pain is what brought Kelly to Jessica for a consult summer 2016. She took her lessons and kept on her training, and coming to #RunPainFree events, and was in need of correction to get to the root of her calf pain. As she approached the NYC Triathlon, July 16, 2017, her shoulder pain became too much for her to deal with, and just 4 weeks (6/14/17), before the race, she started her #RunPainFree Program.

From her assessment the summer before, her It band was already a known issue, which restricts shoulder mobility, so Jessica aggressively address the whole movement pattern, wasting no time to get her shoulder mobile and pain free for the TRI. And in 3 weeks she ran the 15K Boilermaker 7/9/17 with a 7 min PR in Utica, NY where she is from, AND THEN completed that TRI with no pain and swam faster than she thought she could! This is the result for #runpainfree runners who listen and are consistent.

Kelly's correction continued with Tag Team with Dawn. Her correction included IT Band, Hip dysfunction, Lat dysfunction, shoulder restriction, ankle flexion, push off, Calf pain, foot pain, hip flexors and glute activation.

IMG_3945.JPG

Kelly was headed for several half marathons and 10K's in the NYC Area, including the Bronx 10 miler, Chicago Marathon, NYC Marathon and Queens Half.

Kelly's correction showed her potential in running was much greater than perceived, and the reason why she wasn't there was from the root of her dysfunction was up top, in her shoulder/t-spine area... not in her hips (the most common place), as a root.

With, what she calls "fascia Pirates", showing up from her upper body to her calf or ankle, repeatedly ping-ponging, the restriction was apparent, and so was Kelly's worry. FYI google is not your friend! Thankfully, she trusted the process, fought through all her sessions, homework, rolling extra, dedicated to understanding what her body is doing and what its telling her.. and she is in elite status for correction work.

What are some of Kelly's Accomplishments?

Chicago 40th Marathon 2017

Chicago 40th Marathon 2017

Her biggest goals for 2017 were the Boilermaker 15K, THE NYC TRI. NYC AND CHICAGO.

As you read above Kelly did amazing in the 15k and the TRI. Chicago, although she PR'd, was a tough race for her. It was hot and flat, something an NYC runner isn't used to. We have hills here, so running 26.2 flat, makes your hip flexors work much harder than what constant changing terrain does. We had been working on her push off and therefore hip flexion, at that point in her correction, so this was a sweet spot for Kelly to feel.

Kelly had only mentioned her hip flexors once, and it was before she was even a client, so when her hip flexors started to bother her in the race, the flat consistency. She text Jessica right away and got to her rolling and work to relieve herself. And she did!! HUGE step in correction is being able to get a twinge or a nag, and have the ability to address it IMMEDIATELY and correct it before it becomes anything.

Kelly is a corrected runner, so now her body PREVENTS injuries for her...enabling her to make even bigger goals!

HOW DID DAWN START TO SHARE #RUNPAINFREE WITH OTHERS?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners.

Kelly is of the most tenacious runners we have. Constantly refers anyone in pain to #RunPainfree, shares her education, supports all our events, and can answer questions and roll you with knowledge. She's assiated at some events as well!

How has Kelly's Pace Improved?

Kelly is a strong runner. she has improved on every session, every run. She was very locked up when we started.. that shoulder pulls the entire of a run and hers was restricted from many years ago when she broke her collar bone. (Yes. injuiries from 20+ years ago matter.) Below you see her splits from April 2017 and then December 2017.. she's gone from 11-12's to 9 -10 min miles.

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Kelly is an example of this!

Kelly takes pride in what her body has come through, what she thought it could do, and what it actually has accomplished. Her own body gives her empowerment to increase her goals from just a 5K to now going for a Half Ironman! #RunPainFree is honored to coach her through them all!

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

Dawn's 1st session, Jan 4, 2017 (Tag Team)

Dawn's 1st session, Jan 4, 2017 (Tag Team)

Dawn was on the course of the NYC Marathon 2016, when her running buddy stopped to see her coach, Jessica...

How did Dawn find #RunPainFree:

Dawn had learned about Jessica and #RunPainFree from her running peers and friends who where already working with her and in the program. While running the 2016 NYC Marathon, she was running with a #RunPainFree runner who stopped to get rolled by Jessica on 1st ave. at mile 18. Soon after Dawn met Jessica at a running group Christmas party, where Jessica addressed on of her other friends knee pain, which sparked Dawn wanting a consult...

What pain was Dawn experiencing?

After the NYC Marathon 2016, Dawn came to us regarding really bad foot and calf cramp she endured during the marathon. She made a promise to herself to get her training in line. Dawn was waring stability sneakers, Jessica immediately told her that was restricting her hip and foot. After assessing Dawn, her IT Band was running havoc along her entire body. Her hip being the largest of all issues, the IT Band was restricting her movement from her hip down to her foot. If your hip is restricted in movement, do not expect any foot movement either. This had been brewing under her for months, she just couldn't feel it, as most people. And, as most people, she listened to uneducated people, and also was a fitted in sneakers that were creating an injury with every step she took.

IMG_3791.jpg
IMG_5335.jpg
IMG_4357.jpg
IMG_2835.jpg
IMG_7359.png

2 weeks into correction Dawn suffered a metatarsal stress fracture, on her left foo. Her right hip was the root of it all... couple that dysfunction with those immovable sneakers she had on.. it was a recipe for injuries.

After explaining the cause of her stress fracture from her sneaker, she went to her doctor, who confirmed it was her sneakers. The whole reason her foot was vulnerable to be injuries was from her hip, so that hip still needed to be addressed, boot or not. So, we got right to work, IN HER BOOT. When someone goes into a boot, it throws off your hips, being that her hip was already an issue, it was IMPERATIVE that we aggressively address that movement pattern.. especially in her boot, so we corrected the movement pattern AS she healed. Most people stop moving when they go into a boot, generally 6 weeks for this type of injury, then they have PT for 3 months after that, THEN they try and start working out again,... running is months off of that. That puts a person out 6 months, at BEST... that's an entire running season gone! This is why #RunPainFree stands on its own. And why its runners are of the dopest people

IMG_5887.jpg
1st session IN the boot. We MUST correct at time of injury to CORRECT the reason you got injured in the first place. Dawn is a class act because she followed the program!

1st session IN the boot. We MUST correct at time of injury to CORRECT the reason you got injured in the first place. Dawn is a class act because she followed the program!

IMG_5778.jpg

Dawn was amazing! She listened, was consistent and tenacious, trusted the process and was out of that boot in 4 weeks, way ahead of schedule!! She ran the NYC half, 2 weeks later, and a full Paris Marathon 2 weeks after that. Who do you know that has a stress fracture, goes into a boot, and is not only out of the boot in 4 weeks, but is running a half and full marathon 2 weeks after? #RunPainFree runners, DAWN, that's who!

IMG_5770.jpg

How did Dawn start to share #RunPainFree with others?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners.

Dawn has come to every #RunPainFree Event to support, and of valuing the program, as well as to share her story with other runners and how #RunPainFree corrected her and has her doing more and more races, bigger goals and progressing. As apart of many running groups, such as Harlem Run, she is a go-to for rolling, and help to her peers. It's becuase of her own injury and 2x correction that she has the knowledge she does and can truly answer questions for runners with educated responses. In one of #RunPainFree summer events in 2017, a question was asked to Jessica on a live stream, and Dawn asked "can I answer it...?" Happily and proudly Jessica said, "go right ahead!"

What are some of Dawn's accomplishments?

NYC Marathon 2017

NYC Marathon 2017

Dawn has come through an injury during correction, running Nyc Half, Paris Marathon, Brooklyn half, and completed her correction. A few months later, she joined the program again to solidify her correction and increase her goals. She went on to complete the Palisades Half, Chicago Marathon and NYC Marathon 3 weeks later WTIH a PR in NYC, making her a 3x Marathoner for 2017. PR'ing all over the place. She is of the most knowledgeable runners of the #runpainfree program, because of her time in the program and thereof value of it.

How has Dawn Pace Improved?

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Dawn is an example of this!

Starting with us, she was running inefficiently, with having to use too much effort.. due to all her restrictions and the running form building that dysfunction stronger. Dawn was at 14-15 min pace starting Jan 2017, her splits are now Jan 2018 are 11-12's, with effort to spare. Her body works as a UNIT now, and is already prevented other injuries now that she is corrected. Her body tells her immediately when something is off.. so she never runs "off" again, which creates injuries,... now she is preventative!

Dawn is embarking on the the Fred Lebow half marathon, where she got the stress fracture in 2017,...this is her redemption race! She is currently in her second program of #runpainfree, correcting YEARS of dysfunction as she strengthens the preventative movement patterns she's created!

Currently she is headed for

Fred Lebow Half NYC

Dawn is the Epitome of what #RunPainFree is about. We are the ones you come to IN pain or INJUIRED, so we can actually fix you. Dawn trusted the process, listened, did her homework and even with her own doubts of being able to run her 2017 races, she progressed beyond imagination. The more she corrected, the more she shared with her running peers or any runner, really. Dawn sits in a very elite place, for #RunPainFree runners, in that she was in a boot IN her correction, and is a real time example of the power of #RunPainFree, and in that place she upholds the brand with respect and gratitude. A true inspiration to any runner injured, on being strong after injury. She has done this of no influence other than her own, and it is for that reason we are happy to announce her as a #RunPainFree Ambassador!

Congratulations Dawn, on representing our brand with commitment, motivation, dedication, and pride! You are a #RunPainFree Ambassador

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

Prevention and Knowledge of Functional Movement, brought us Occupational Therapist, Marilyn!

Marilyn's consult, May 9, 2016

Marilyn's consult, May 9, 2016

How did Marilyn find #RunPainFree:

Marilyn is an Occupational Therapist, with her own body's awareness she understood the power of prevention. She was reading up on #RunPainFree online, seeing videos and hearing about the program from peers that had been to see Jessica or a workshop. She understood that our program was exactly not only what she was looking for, but what she valued.

What pain was Marilyn experiencing?

Marilyn was the only 2016 preventative runner, she didn't have any injuries, she came tp be ahead of them! She has Scoliosis. The majority of society does have a slight case of this, just from daily function and tendencies. Like so many people, she went to a chiropractor to see if it would help. After an x-ray, a slight adjustment and then, as she states, "...he threw some exercises for me to do without showing me how to do it...", she decided to call, Jessica.

Since that consult, Marilyn has worked consistently on her body movement correction. Scoliosis is of the bone, and even if you break the bone, you still have to RE-train the muscles around them to support the structure (no a brace doesn't do this, hence why so many adults who had back braces for scoliois still have issues).. So, #RunPainFree correction for Marilyn was addressing the underdeveloped, dysfunctionally developed, and over developed (compromising) muscles.

IMG_7780.jpg
IMG_8458.jpg
IMG_7776.jpg

Marilyn would come to her session, on her way home from a race, albeit a 5K or a half marathon she'd show up at the gym or park with her medal in tow, a physical representation of her progress weekly! She pushed hard and found her body's needs along the way. Sharing #runpainfree with her peers, from rolling them to referring them, coming to all our injury events around NYC supporting the brand and our purpose to correct AND prevent injuries. With intense integrity!

How did Marilyn start to share #RunPainFree with others?

The #RunPainFree program educates the runner so they can go out into the world and help other runners. Marilyn started rolling her peers quite fast upon working with Jessica. But, what set her apart was that she WAS NOT INJURED. Marilyn was the ONLY person on the 2016 roster that came FOR prevention, that is...the BEST correction by the way. With that, she stood out and was looked at for guidance from many other runners. Too many wait until they are hurt before they see Jessica, when in fact #RunPainFree is just as much about prevention as it is correction. After all, once you are deemed corrected, you are deemed preventative as well. You're body will now protect you fro being "injured" ever again.

How has Marilyn's Pace Improved?

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Marilyn is an example of this!

Starting with us, she was doing the Galloway Method of run-walking, she's challenged herself to run straight and went from 14 min miles to hitting 11's! She is now a Pacer for Galloway as a result of her progress!

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

June 12, 2016, Sheldon. The most severely injured runner in the #RunPainFree, class of 2016.

Sheldon's first #RunPainFree session 6/15/16

Sheldon's first #RunPainFree session 6/15/16

How did Sheldon find #RunPainFree:

Marked, of all runners, "most severe injured runner of 2016", Sheldon came in extreme pain, with several torn hip labrum's.. but little did he know the extent of his injuries up and down his entire body, that #RunPainFree found. He went from not running at all, to starting to run just 2 months before the marathon, and finished the NYC Marathon 2016 in 5:02!

What pain was Sheldon experiencing?

Sheldon has torn hip labrum's on both hips, he was in hip pain, back pain, limp-running and hyperextending his leg on every run.. compounding even more injuries. When we started correcting his hip, his knee dysfunction showed up. Here is a list of his injuries we started with, followed by the total injuries we found, exposed and corrected in the process:

9/23/16 3 months into correction, we have PUSH OFF!

Sheldon's entire body had compromised for so much dyfunction, being athlete, that he dysfunctionally built his muscles as well. For the correction process, the ore athletic you are, the more muscle will compromise to the extent of injury. They are of the most involved corrections, to retrain that built and trained dysfunctional movement pattern. Sheldon is an Aquatic Director, Swim Coach, Ph.D student at Columbia University's Teacher College for Physical Education, English Professor, Marathoner and Tri-Athlete, to say he's an "athlete" is an understatement.
Then Nike Free change up!

Then Nike Free change up!

IMG_4402.JPG

Sheldon's pain is VISIBLE in this 1st correction run he did, his 2nd session, 6/30/16...

Sheldon, above in August starting to trust that right leg more, and below, is 3 months into correction, he opens up 9/21/16...

How did SHeldon start to share #RunPainFree with others?

IMG_2246.JPG

Sheldon was coming to see Jessica 4-5 days per week. When someone is on the "severe" list, we needed more time to address and be aggressive. The more you correct the more injuries show up, or show brewing injuries, thats who we ACTUALLY correct, by being Bio-Mechanics Expert, the study of movement. That said, Sheldon's body adjusted very fast, literally day to day. The work Sheldon had to put in, the travel from Brooklyn (Coney Island) to the Upper East Side, Chelsea and Central Park, to get in his sessions. His will matched that of the power of the #RunPainFree Program!

It is becuase of Sheldon's tenacity, his run club took notice. He was with one the oldest, and therefore respected, running clubs in New York City, most of whom saw him in so much pain,... only to see him running like a gazelle out of now where! Runners NATURALLY want to help each other in their running, and pains. He shared his pictures of his session's, exemplified HARD WORKD and dedication, and started a flood of people to get a #RunPainFree Consult to joint the #RunPainFree MOVEMENT! Sheldon, is now with Lean Strong Fast, another respected club here in NYC!

RunPainFree Cheer and STICK station SOBX Faby and Sheldon stop at mile 22!

For the 2016 NYC TCS Marathon, Sheldon ran and finished marathon ever, she finished in 5:02! Sheldon

How has Sheldon's Pace Improved?

Sheldon just completed the 5th ave mile in 6:29 9/17/17.. he has hit 616 miles to date for 2017, pushing for 384! He did the Mini Sprint Triathalon in Westchester 9/23/17 and the Bronx 10 Miler 9/24/17, he is running twice as much as everyone, and experiencing tweaks any high performing athlete is. He is CORRECTED. So that means, when he sprained his ankle on a Sunday, he sees Jessica the following Friday, and runs a 6:29 (NYC 5th ave mile) on Sunday. When he is told to rest, he does. But, the #RunPainFree's Program is getting runners to run as much as they want, and that is what we are doing for Sheldon.

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Sheldon is an example of this!

IMG_1921.jpg

What is SHeldon doing, currently?

Sheldon is headed for the NYC Marathon November 5th, 2017, in his #NIKEFREE, but his race calendar is full up to then! #RUNPAINFREE WILL BE AT THE MIAMI MARATHON WITH SHELDON!

9/18- TCS New York City Marathon Tune-Up
9/23- Westchester Sprint Triathlon
9/24- Bronx 10M
10/8- Staten Island Half
10/15- Brooklyn Greenway Half
10/14- The Brooklyn 5 Miler
10/18- Queens Half Marathon
10/22- NYC Duathlon
11/4- Dash to the Finish
11/5- NYC Marathon
11/12- Prospect Park Duathlon
1/28- Miami Half Marathon

He is a running example of what the #RunPainFree program develops and results in... and that's when a once in pain runner, running only when he/she can,... turns into a #RunPainFree runner...running whenever they want.

Sheldon, is looked up to and respected by his peers for his desire and struggle and correction to run. He shares his struggles all of his races on his path to living his highest performance athletic quest. Sheldon, listens. He stays in contact with Jessica, does his homework and TRUSTS his body is now corrected to talk to him, to keep it on track. That is the #RunPainFree way. His friendly competititive nature keeps him and his peers pushing for more. Being in a family of runners, not only has he come to #runpainfree events, he's brought his father, brother and family friend to them!

It is due to Sheldon's tenacity and trust in Jessica and #RunPainFree, his loyalty, dedication, understanding and desire to learn in order to exceedingly perform at his highest level, and educate on what the #runpainfrees brand is and brings, on his own accord, simply because he's proof of it, we are proud to announce Sheldon as a #RunPainFree Ambassador!

Congratulations Sheldon, on representing our brand with commitment, motivation, dedication, and pride!

#RunPainFree Ambassador Announcement

July 8, 2016, we met, Jazz, and she became a Marathoner!

Jazz's first #RunPainFree session 7/8/16

Jazz's first #RunPainFree session 7/8/16

NYC TCS Marathon 2016

NYC TCS Marathon 2016

How did Jazz find #RunPainFree:

Marked "most severe female of 2016". After pulling out of the NYC Marathon 2015, for a hip fracture and pain, she worked on healing but her pain persisted. Thankfully she had found us on FaceBook, where #runpainfree serves in many NYC running groups as an expert for injuries. After "stalking" us, as Jazz put it (haha), she reached out for a consult. After not running all year, in 4 months times, she ran, completed and came in 1st out of the #runpainfree class of 2016 NYC Marathon runners, 4:03 time!

What pain was Jazz experiencing?

Jazz had hip/groin pain, and SI joint (low back/butt) pain. This pain, prevented her from opening up in her run, and therefore, what I call, "under-running", looping her injury and making it worse. Using KT Tape, Braces, restrict and make this ever worse as it's just adding more restriction on the hip and knee joint, and therefore ankle and shoulder restriction. Jazz was a Track and Field athlete growing up, and then played D3 volleyball, all in this dysfunctional place. Then she was hit by a car, compounding everything. Youth, lets a lot of injuries get bypassed, only to show up in your 30's, especially having a major accident on top of it. So, as she set out to run the 2015 NYC Marathon, this hip dysfunction showed up. She sought out doctors and PT and after a year of following what they said, puling out of the race, she had done nothing but spend money, as her pain was still the same. Along this time she found #RunPainFree on Facebook in a few runners groups. After stalking us for months, she finally had her consult on July 8, 2016. From that day on she started the #RunPainFree Program, and correcting her injuries that had held her back for so many years.

It wasn't an easy correction. More severe injuries, are more severe correction, and in a week she was emailing us, nervous, feeling things she's never felt in her body,... something we get all the time from our runners. It's all apart of the correction process. We get things moving that either have been dormant for years, or never worked in the first place. We told Jazz what we tell all our runners "Trust The Process." She put in the work, listened, did her homework, foam rolling, came to extra sessions,... the #runpainfree way.

By August 23, 2016, 7 sessions later, Jazz opened up...

How did Jazz start to share #RunPainFree with others?

Jazz's running is what had people coming up to her asking how she was feeling. People couldn't believe how well she was running, having known her injury struggles. She shared the #RunPainFree Program every time someone asked her, just to help people realize they don't have to give up on running. Jazz now 'sticks' anyone who is in need on runs or workouts, or even away races! She has spread the #runpainfree word on her own accord, because she's proof of the brand and she know's first hand it works. Not because anyone asked her to.

For the 2016 NYC TCS Marathon, her first marathon ever, she finished in 4:03! Jazz, came in FIRST place of the #RunPainFree Class of 2016, just 4 months into her correction program, as the most injured female of the Class of 2016. She's gone on to PR thereafter, running the 5th Ave Mile Race in 5:49!

How has Jazz's Pace Improved?

The whole purpose of #RunPainFree is to get you pain free and running however much you so choose to. So that YOU are the deciding factor of your runs, not dictated by some pain in your body. We create balanced, efficient runners. And Jazz is an example of this!

Jazz did so well in the Marathon 2016, she took a break from running so much in December- February. This set her back a bit. 1 - when you're body is used to a certain level of activity, consistently and then it stops, the body freaks out, and "freak out" translates into restriction. She still ran in that time frame, and still pain free, but she felt the difference of training to not training, and realized that if she wants to stay running and improving, she needs to stay on top of it. If you give your body the tools it needs, it will run for you, pain free. However, if you don't give it the tools, it wont. It is that simple. She quickly turned that around in 2017, here are some stats thus far:

Fred Lebow Half 1:46 @8:09 pace, PR'd 4M at from 29:43 to 29:29 3 weeks apart, Brooklyn Half 1:54 @ 8:46 on no sleep and travel, Percy Sutton 5K 21:27 @6:58 and most recently the 5th Ave Mile .

What is Jazz doing, currently?

Jazz is headed to the 40th Chicago Marathon on October 8, 2017, followed by the NYC Marathon November 5th, 2017, for a second go at it!

She is a running example of what the #RunPainFree program develop and results in... and that's when a once in pain runner, running only when he/she can,... turns into a #RunPainFree runner...running whenever they want.

"Jazzy Brooklyn", is looked up to and respected by her peers. She shares her struggles in her path to living her best life. Always open to helping a fellow runner, be it pace them, push them or roll them. Creating positive competition, for herself, and putting herself first, to then be able to help those around her. Jazz has come to #runpainfree events to do just that, sharing that after she put in the work, she can then come and share her story with other injured runners... without be asked she's come to support the brand in helping more runners, stay running and with hope, being the light at the end of the tunnel!

It is due to Jazz's loyalty, dedication, understanding and desire to learn and educate on what the #RunPainFree brand is and brings, on her own accord, simply because she's proof of it, that we are proud to announce Jazz as a #RunPainFree Ambassador!

Congratulations Jazz, on representing our brand with commitment, motivation, dedication, and pride!
